Help us protect our beautiful coastal waters, sea and our country's children
The Noordhoek Ski Boat club and the Wildeside divers are proud to be associated with the Navel Sea cadets of T.S Lanherne. These cadets have been part of the Dive festival for over 6 years with their unconditional contribution towards the diving community at this annual event.
The Navel cadets are a Section 21 company which means all the staff is doing their bit on a voluntary basis. Throughout the year several fundraising activities are held to ensure much needed funds are generated to sustain this wonderful cause and the future of the cadets.
The Navel cadets are based in Humewood at the well known “S Bend” which is also proclaimed as a National Monument. The staff at the base train between 120 to 150 children every Friday night in Naval and Maritime skills as well as traditions, life skills, discipline and……loads of fun!
A Navel cadet will earn a SAMSA qualification when they graduate along with their Grade 12 school certificate. This enabled several of these children to pursue a career in the navy or other Maritime industries. Such an example is the current Port Captain of Port Elizabeth!!
Unfortunately, funds are not also readily available and the cadets have to work extra hard to get these much needed funds in. Currently the cadets are raising funds for containers that will be utilized as classrooms. The Wildside Dive festival has committed itself this year to contribute towards this much needed cause……and so must you!!
We salute these cadets and the proud staff of T.S Lanherne for keeping our children safe, educated and off the streets!
